The "Classy Penguin" actually started as an obscure set of 3D images from a stock photo website back in 2014. The artist, 3Dalia, designed it with a round belly, sunglasses, and a bow tie. Then, in late 2024, it was rediscovered on a free stock image site, given some witty captions, and turned into the viral sensation we know today.

上海理工大学出版学院教师李鑫认为，这只企鹅的走红已成为一种带有自黑、自嘲、抵抗与身份重构意味的亚文化表达，是网民共同用柔性方式对抗现实压力，用魔性的动作解构权威话语，在紧张工作之余一同实现的“片刻狂欢”。
