  中国传统节日和美食总是密不可分的,就像粽子之于端午节、月饼之于中秋节一样。元宵节就要吃元宵呀!你喜欢吃这种用糯米粉做成的圆滚滚小可爱吗?


  Many traditional Chinese festivals remind us of the aromas of special foods. As zongzi are to the Dragon Boat Festival and mooncakes are to the Mid-Autumn Festival, Yuanxiao, sweet dumplings made of sticky rice flour, are special to the Lantern Festival.

  在元宵节,大家除了吃元宵,还会逛灯会、猜灯谜。各式各样的灯笼外会有谜语,边赏花灯边猜灯谜也是元宵节的一大乐事呀!

  Apart from round-shaped yuanxiao, another beloved part of the celebration is the lanterns, which come in every possible size and shape. Riddles are pasted onto them so that people can try to solve them while looking at the lanterns.

  唐宋时期的元宵节热闹非凡。尤其是晚上,街上舞龙舞狮表演生动传神,人们提着花灯,看表演、吃元宵、放鞭炮。

  The Lantern Festival was very popular in the Tang and Song dynasties. It meant a day of great fun back then. In the evening, people went into the streets with a variety of lanterns, watching lion or dragon dances, eating yuanxiao and setting off firecrackers.

  在中国古代,这个节日也为那些不被允许自由外出的未婚年轻女孩提供了一个寻找真爱的机会。宋代诗人欧阳修用著名的诗句记录了这一浪漫的节日传统:“月上柳梢头,人约黄昏后。”

  In ancient China, the festival also provided an opportunity for unmarried young girls who were not allowed to go out freely to search for their true love. Ouyang Xiu of the Song Dynasty recorded this romantic tradition with the well-known line: “Atop the willow tree hangs the moon; my date comes in the evening soon (月上柳梢头,人约黄昏后).”


9、unmarried /ʌnˈmær.ɪd/ adj. 未婚的,单身的
